Severe Weather Alert: Hailstorms and Torrential Rain Forecast for 15 Uttar Pradesh Districts
A significant shift in weather patterns is set to impact Uttar Pradesh as the monsoon season begins its retreat. A fresh western disturbance is expected to bring severe weather to the state on Monday, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue multiple alerts.
A yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 13 western districts. Furthermore, a severe hailstorm warning, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is in effect for 15 districts, primarily across the western terai region. This includes Saharanpur, Shamli, and Bijnor.
Residents in the affected areas should prepare for intense weather conditions, with forecasts predicting hailstorms alongside heavy downpours. Strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km per hour are also expected. A broader caution for thunderstorms and lightning has been issued for approximately 38 districts across the state.
According to senior scientist Atul Kumar Singh from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, the active western disturbance is the primary cause of this severe weather outlook. The conditions are expected to clear by Wednesday, with forecasts indicating a return to dry weather across both eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.
