McLaren Clinches Historic 10th F1 Constructors’ Title in Dominant Fashion
McLaren has secured its second consecutive Formula 1 constructors’ championship, a victory that was clinched with six races remaining in the 2024 season. This landmark win marks the team’s 10th title, moving them ahead of Williams into sole possession of second place on the all-time list, behind only Ferrari.
The achievement is particularly notable for its timing in one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory. While not as statistically dominant as some past champions, McLaren’s success has been built on the foundation of the formidable MCL39 car and two drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, who have consistently delivered wins. Together, the duo has taken 12 victories from the first 18 races.
Team principal Andrea Stella credited the triumph to a culture of “innovation” and “bravery.” The car’s defining advantage comes from its devastating cornering speeds, especially in medium-speed turns, and the best tire usage on the grid. Key innovations in suspension design, aerodynamics, and efficient cooling—evident in its sleek, vent-minimized bodywork—have all contributed to creating what is arguably the most effective car on the circuit this year.
This title stands in stark contrast to last year’s championship, which was won under intense pressure at the final race. Defying expectations that teams would converge in the final year of the current regulations, McLaren instead caught its rivals off guard with a car that has proven to be the class of the field.
